The good part of it is that tons of people visit the site monthly and you are able to find pretty much anything there. I know that Craigslist can be frustrating when you are looking for a date or love. Almost every ad on Craigslist is put up by a fake who is looking for you to sign up for some scam website. This is terrible because there are plenty of REAL people who use craigslist to find love every day. Sometimes it can be hard to pick out the real ones, but there are a few simple tips you can follow to protect yourself.
You must also know that many girls are not using Craigslist anymore because they are required to pay to post an ad. Because of this, many of the people went to other places to find love, but Craigslist is still very popular.
The first tip is to ask a simple question in your response. By simply asking something like "do you like older men" or "do you mind smokers" is a great way to find out if someone is real. If they respond to you without answering the question you asked, chances are they are fake.
The second tip is to sign the response with a name. It doesn't have to be your real name, but sing it with a name. By simply putting "Thanks, Jim" at the end of the email you will be setting the ad poster up for the ultimate test. If they address their response with "Hey Jim" or "Dear Jim" it at least means that they are writing the email to YOU. If they write back with "Hey Hun" or "Hey Baby", chances are they are just auto-responding to you and it is a fake ad.
The third and final tip is to watch the pictures. If you see a picture that looks like it was taken in a studio, chances are they are fake. If you get a picture from a cell phone or something that looks "amateur" chances are they are real.
At the end of the day the best defense is just common sense. Just be careful and make sure things look legit.
